Ode to the Cactus
O, the cactus. Ascetic.
Thirsty--
but nobly thirsty.
The dense desert nun.
The firm green upright saint on
the succulent cusp of a canyon.
Flowering only at night
for the moon
and a band of coyotes'
colorful howling.
