all I ask
is that he sleep
quietly with me
while I sleep
while I read or I write
and at least daily
let me hold him to my chest
for a few moments
like a baby, kissing his forehead
all he asks
is for a warm body to curl into
at all hours
food & fresh water
perfectly suited
we are two proud
creatures answering together
