I told you to leave me
alone, did I not, but
the dreams won’t go
away. the only one
I confide to, wise one
tells me you are nothing
but a symbol, persistent
here I go trying
to create my own
mythology, shimmering
figures take up post
above the bed, the sky
delivers omens, whatever
dictates dream production
carries on, don’t we all
hammering the point home
in reality I asked you
to never leave, remembering
punchline stinging hot tears
pride will lie for pennies
