Barely Eat

I seasoned my rice with the salt from your lips
While you sang yellow songs that fell into flowers.
While you danced to wicked ancient melodies
I beat a drum of your taut belly skin
Meanwhile rice simmered
Red fish sizzled in the pan
I sliced a lemon
Crushed five peppercorns
And sat down alone at the table to eat.
I took one bite
and burst into tears.
