Leaving Earth

So goodby to you all
I am off to another star
Filled with wonder I am sure
And plenty of natural resources.

Can't stay here any longer
Or so it seems
We are on a path to self destruction
Too many problems for hope to endure

So I am standing by the spaceship
Which will carry me to my new destiny
When she says don't go, wouldn't you know
That was it I decided to remain here

She wants me to stay
My beloved planet
My world wants me to fight
For her, for hope of rebirth, for tomorrow!

I have to be honest
Wasn't sure about the whole space ship thing anyway
Too many weapons aboard
Men with harsh faces ready for battle.

I will be a better listener
Be more attentive to your needs
Remember to thank you for the little things
Thankful, caring, humble.

Future courses yet to be set
My new direction a journey of respect
Rebuild, construct, inform
For this is my home now and forever.
